I'm not 100% sure of the build date, DSO, and axle code. The
original paper is almost unreadable. A letter from Ford dated
Aug 23, 2000 says the vehicle was produced at the Dearborn plant
on 08/10/1970 for the 1972 model year (maybe a typo, so I
selected Aug 72). The original paper says region 7, district 6
(which I believe would be DSO 76, but that's not an option
above). I just selected Fargo since the earliest ownership
record I have is for North Dakota. The letter from Ford says
it's a non-locking rear axle, but doesn't specify beyond that.
The rest of the info is straight from the original paper.
When
I purchased this car, there was a hole in the windshield where
the rear-view mirror was pulled off. The upholstery is a wreck,
and the driver's seat frame collapsed. The floor pans
(especially driver's side) were rotted completely through. Only
the driver's side front and rear seatbelts are still in tact.
The rear window has roses etched in the corners (which I want to
replace). The transmission isn't too bad, except it tends to
lurch when I shift between reverse and drive. The exhaust system
needs to be replaced. The car has approximately 163K miles
(nothing rebuilt that I know of), but the engine runs great. The
paint is in fair condition (probably been repainted). There is
rust in various spots, but it's a good 20-footer.
All
I've had the time and money to accomplish so far is to replace
the driver's side front and rear floor pans, new tires, new
windshield, swap the front seats so I can drive it. I have used
it some as a commuter, but I'd prefer to get more work done
before I start driving it again regularly (such as getting
A/C--it gets hot here).
